Slinger and Silicone
Why is important to know if I have a silicone phone case?
Due to its chemical makeup, even the industrial-strength adhesive used by Slinger will not stick to silicone.
What is silicone?
Silicone is a highly versatile material that can be molded, extruded, and formed into all different kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications. Silicone can withstand very low and very high temperatures, is not reactive with skin or other materials, and can handle heavy wear and tear.
As a result of its versatility, silicone is used extensively in household products such as cookware, clothing, and many different models of cell phone cases.
How do I know if my cell phone case is made out of silicone?
The most distinctive characteristic of a silicone phone case is its smooth, soft, skin-like texture and feel. Silicone phone cases often come in a variety of different colors and unless integrated into more rugged and robust phone cases, they can be very lightweight.
Probably the easiest way to confirm if your case is made out of silicone is to see if tape or adhesive will stick to it. You can test out your case with any normal tape you may have in your home. Just take a small piece and try to stick it on your case. If the piece of tape falls off right away, or peels off very easily, you most likely have a silicone case.

How do I use Slinger if I have a silicone phone case?
We have had many, very happy customers with silicone phone cases successfully use Slinger. There are primarily three options for people with silicone phone cases to use Slinger:
- Use a specialized glue that is specifically designed to adhere to silicone (can be found here). Simply place a few drops directly onto the adhesive strips, and then firmly press and hold your Slinger against your phone case in accordance with the glue’s instructions (typically no more than 15 seconds is needed)
- Put Slinger on a second phone case and swap your cases based on your needs. Slinger sticks best to smooth, hard plastic or rubber cases, which are available for purchase at very low prices (for example, see here, here, and here).
- Simply replace your primary phone case with one that is not made from silicone. There are limitless options in the marketplace for phone cases with different colors and styles, but there is only one retractable lanyard for your phone—Slinger.
With it permanently attached, how do I keep using my Slinger if I replace my phone or get a new case?
Every Slinger ships with an extra set of adhesive strips. If you ever need to move your Slinger to a new phone or case, simply remove your Slinger from your current phone or case, apply the extra set of adhesive strips to the back of your Slinger, and attach it to your new phone or case.
If you happen to misplace your extra set of adhesive strips, additional sets are available for purchase here.
